I have a 2000 mustang with the 3.8, I hear a somewhat high pitched beep that lasts about a sec from time to time while driving and shortly after I start hearing this my alternator seems to go bad. I realize the alternator is probably just the end result but I have no idea what could cause anything like this. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I've had to replace my alternator twice now within 10 months

Have you had it scanned? Also, what kind of output do you have on the alternator and are their any mods to the car? I'm just wondering if you're pushing enough amps.

Was it new alternators you fitted ? were the old alternators tested to verify they were faulty rather than than a possible wiring fault ?

when I had it scanned all that showed up was my o2 sensor, I have an exhaust leak and the first alternator was new and both tested faulty when I had them checked

Is the charging system grounded properly? It sounds like something might be spiking the flash on your alternator.
