They are alittle like most motors with iron block and alloy head..The different expansion rates of the two metals puts fatigue on head bolts on each heat cycle..
Yep pull head off check head for straightnes skim alittle of surface, new head gasget [get the correct one!!] NEW head bolts.. Torque or turn to specs...

the head had corroded through on #3, so just get it rewelded and machined, be like new again, only gonna cost $100 for the head to be repaired so quite happy with that outcome.

took it to the head shop yesterday, it was pretty bad, full recon job, it had also corroded out the rear plate on the back of the head, he said that he would see what he could do with the head, try and repair it but if he couldn't he'd just give us a recon on for $200, i'm pretty happy with that. pick it up on saturday and fit it.
i'm quite supprised with the overall condition of the car, has vertually no rust, still got the factory cream paint that still has a shine to it, and the motor seemes to be in pretty good nick over all, pretty rare to find a car in that good condition now days that is that old.
