I have a ED GLi 4.oltr with an auto(doh!), so far i have lowered it and put wheels on it but thats about it. I am looking to get an upgrade in performance but am unsure where to start. Some say go the exhaust(i will be methinks), and others say airflow into the engine. I have a reasonable budget on this but what i am really after is some better speed down low. Any ideas at all would be welcome.
P.S If i sound like a gump, this is my first time on one of these boards, so i guess you'll just have to live with it lol.
I think that u must start at exhaust... coz everything builds on it from there.... But i guess u could go and throw in an XR head and computer and keep the standard exhaust... that w\ould improve yer power in the low rpm range... But personally i would go get extractors and exhaust done 1st... then intake and then some head work... if u feel the need for more! Im doing things in this order and so far im up to XR cam and am getting progressively happier with my car... I want the fastest, and most meanest - stock looking EB wagon in Brissy! Visual appearance does nothing for my ego! :)

Hmm I put in a XR6 cam... Don't really know how much more performance it has given me, because I'm still ironing out all the "bugs" after changing my head gasket, transmission and steering rack.
However from the small amount of time driving my car I did notice that she free-reved like i've never seen a car free rev before!! Just a tiny tap of the accelerator and she's flying up to 2000RPM. Don't know if thats good yet, cos like i said I haven't given her the complete pedal to the metal yet.
if you want to increase the power of your car, get a 2 1/2" in exhaust, a hi flo cat, extractors all this will cost between $600 and $900. then you can get bigger intake pipes from your throttle body to your air box and get a K&N filter, then you can put cold air induction to your air box. You can also get a bigger air intake snorkle from a xr model. all this should increase your performance a lil bit and should make u happy. and if your not happy enough do as the other guys said and get a cam and head from an xr6. u can also put an xr6 fuel regulator in it too, that will also increase your performace.
Thanks for your help guys, about the high flow cat tho, talked to an exhaust bloke and he said that the falcons 2.25" cat could be widened to 2.5" therby negating the need for a new cat. Any ideas on this?
