I got told today my top and bottom idler pulleys need replacing because they are noisy.The mechanic put the screwdriver on them and had a listen.Now ive only got 65,000Ks on my au2 i6 ute ,i thought they would not have to be changed for a while yet.Is this normal.He quoted me $123 dollars.cheers.

Thats about right mate.
Im going to a machinist to get them made from alloy and make it so i can just change the bearings for afew $$ rather than fors out up to $60+ each time.

Doesn't sound right !!! Buy some yourself...I guess thats $120 fitted they are around $30 each ...Not hard to fit....

Im not sure but i took idlers of (not the tensioner one) got the bearing numbers went to the local supplier .I knocked the old ones out put the new ones in and put back together cost about $6.00 for the bearings.Mine the v8 couldnt see there would be much difference.

With the V8 sets, they have lipped edges on eitherside unabling them to be pressed out & changed.
