Hello everyone

I am a new guy here, and I am having a bit of trouble with my EL falcon. I only get it for less tha 2 month.

Whenever the car is idling, you feel that something is bumping the engine (feel a bit like misfiring). I went back to FORD dealer and ask them to check out the problem, all they they did was just cleanout the throttle valve. The mechanic even told me that it is injectors double pulsing and I don't have to worry about it.

The problem is that when you sit behind the wheel and waiting for the traffic light, the"bumping" really makes you uncomfortable.
This appear worth when engine is hot.

I hope any of you can give some advice on this, please.

P.S. the leads and spark plugs were replaced the first time I went back to FORD dealer.

If not leads. Do a compression check.Is it loosing any coolant? Or is the temp rising and going down esp when going up hills? Could be head gasget? Or more correctly the head bolts have lost there tension?Also check for fulty earths on your battery,motor and body.Vacuum lines to map senser all connected and not leaking?It's a black box just above the rocker cover on the pasenger side on firewall..Next suspect crook coils in your case..Plugs.. the long electrodes seem to work best from xr6 type...Inlet gasget sometimes stuffs up too, put short hose to your ear and run under inlet while idling check for leaks..Injectors???,pump, filter but thats normally high speed..All things to visually check

Edit I see E.L .. one coil..Henry putem in top place!!!

Sorry to be an Idiot.......

I have check the earth, the vacuum line and were all good....
The lnlet gasket seems to be ok, after I spray some WD40 on it and nothing much change.....
The coil and plugs were good according to the Dealer. They told me they were big company so they were replaced as brand new......
Fuel pump is ok and fuel filter just replaced.

I will try to check out the cylinder pressure hope it's not head gasket.

PS the coolant is missing but it's dripping under the radiator at left hand side of car....(About time to check the radiator....)

Abalone:: Not loughing at you mate!! The meat head that designed or put the coil where it is now under manifold! O/k 40 years ago when the manifold was much smaller and more room..And I bet he got a golden handshake!!!

The radiator could be leaking due to pressure build up from compression leaking into cooling system? You could try to re-torque the head bolts? But remember they may break, but thats the chance ya take..A long one though!!

Sorry abolone, I wasn't poking at you - I meant the twit Ford designer who decided to locate the rotten coil where it is thus making hard work for any poor bugger like yourself (any many of us too on occasion I can assure you) that has to try and get at things :s5

Mine does this too occasionally. Most times it'll idle so smooth that you have to look at the tacho to make sure its still running, but some times it gets a little bumpy like you described.

I havnt really worried about it though

I also recently notice that when brake is apply harder, the engine feel abit shaking. I said it's from engine because the vibration is from centre of the car not from the steering wheel.
Sounds like there's somewhere engine is losing vacuum........
I getting worry as the indication are moving towards head or gasket problem......

Is there any other sign of head gasket is almost the end....??

A commen problem on the idle circut on the eec. take it back to the ford dealer and ask them to check the duty cycle and freqency from the computer it may ned a c/o eec.We get this problem often.

Hmmm could be pvc faulty sounds like vacuum leak diaphram or valve on booster faulty???Mind you "pumping" brakes will do that...
