I have a 99 Escort, just tonight, when it was in park the engine sounded like I was putting my foot on the gas and revving the engine. I checked all fluid levels, I had to add a little oil. I went to the store and on the way back the Check Engine Light came on. I checked all fluid levels again just in case, but everything is full. Any idea what the problem may be? Thanks

Does it take a while to back off if you rev the car manually?

If so, then it could be a suction problem in the carby.

I figured it out, got an oil change and changed the air filter ( it was black), I had some one clear the check engine code and all is fine now. I think it was mainly the air filter. Thanks for your help though.
