Ignition beeping...

I have an XF ute with the ignition module behind the passenger kick panel (not EFI).
Sometimes when I am driving, it beeps at me, but generally only when I am applying power.
Why? Does anyone know what this means? The car runs fine with No alteration in performance when it starts beeping though.
any replies would be appreciated because it is getting annoying.
Thanks.

Can you take it off it's mounting and take it out of it's case? You may be able to pinpoint where the sound is coming from. I'll check my workshop manual in the meantime.

Pete.

Hmm thats a strange one XESpakman!

Just checked the Electronic Spark Timing supplement in my Gregories XF manual...doesnt mention anything about the ability for the control unit to beep...

ive never heard mine beep either...and ive got the same setup as you..

Perhaps youve got some sort of modded EST unit?? hehe

Let us know what you find tho...

Stupid me!!! HA HA!
the guy I bought it off said he had that trouble too, it turned out to be the GAS CONVERTER! the diaphragm or something viabrates when it is cold (like pinching the end of a balloon) causing the 'beeping' sound.
It is a lovato system, which will be changed when I install the EFI manifold and run straight gas.
Thanks anyway.
(i now fell a bit stupid)
ah well, even the best make mistakes! :-)
