I'm gonna apologise in advance coz this is gonna be a really long post coz I'm a chick and I talk alot hehe .... ok but seriously, here we go, from the beginning:
I bought a chip for my car and the Auto Elec fitted it without soldering (ya gotta build up solder for a proper connection otherwise car goes into Limp Mode I found out) & it did just that but Powerchip will be fixing that for me on Thursday. But when it was in Limp Mode, the temp gauge shot into the red. It didn't shoot up slowly, it shot in a millisecond. Now, I'm confused... Did this happen because all my elecs went into chaos bcoz of Limp Mode, or could it be bcoz of this --> Last week I ripped out my Filter Box, took off the Flexi Pipe, fitted a 3" rubber pipe from throttle body and put on an open Pod on the other end. Could that be why the car's temp went into the red??? Or was it the temp gauge goin' crazy like everything else did when it went into Limp mode? I mean I knew it would probably run a little hotter coz of the Pod but CHRIST not that hot lol ....
Let's say it is the Pod making the temp go mad what would make sense:
1) Chuck in twin EL Thermo's (not constant, but with switch) or
2) Get rid of the Pod and keep my original filter box with BMC Filter and an XH Snorkel (and for that I know I gotta off the bit from my original snorkel that's still attached to my shroud) or
3) EF upper box with AU lower box running an AU xr8 Snorkel?
(I'm gonna change the Thermostat. Put a colder one in on Thursday regardless of where the temp problem came from - I normally change it close to Summer anyway)
I'd be sorry to get rid of my Pod setup coz it's given the car the most AWESOME GRUNT sound and I'd hate to lose that but if it's causing heat trouble, then it's goin'!!!! No rush on the opinions bcoz I'll see how the temp gauge goes after Powerchip solder up the ECU. I'll update you all on Friday. And if it was the Limp Mode causing the drama's, I'm still interested in your opinions on the Box Set-ups.
Again, I'm really sorry for the long post but I wanted to explain everything b4 asking the questions. Thanks for your patience boyz & girlz!!!!
Cheers ... Krissy :o)

Has to be electrical. For the guage to go up instantly it cant be a real temp reading. Even if you had no coolant at all it would still take some time for the temp to go up....not instant like you said.
Sticking the POD in a box, will save you a defect as well as keeping cooler air to the POD, at the moment I am guessing it just sucks air under the bonnet which will mostly be hot air not cool :0)

I did put something here, but it vanshied, I think
It's done and so far so good. No Limp Mode (thank god) I put the ECU back in and took the car for a run. The temp gauge slowly climbed up to the red but then quickly went back down again. I decided to take out the Pod and put my filter box and snorkel back in and took it for a run. Temp was perfect. Went up a little (to half way) but that's ok. I've just changed the thermostat and flushed out the system then put coolant through again and the cars sitting at a nice temp. My husbands about to put the Pod back in to see how the temp goes with the lower thermostat. If it still runs hot, I'll just keep the filter box, get myself a BMC filter and run an XH snorkel. That's my plan - but who knows what the car has planned for me lol..... Oh by the way, I went to Ford to get advice from them but they were hopeless. I explained everything to the guy as you would to a 2 y/o but nooooooo he just didn't get it. Is it just me, or are the people at Ford losties???????

GREAT NEWS!!!!! Pod is back in ... Temp is PERFECT. Sits beautifully on the ¼ mark. Even when I give it a bit of a run ;o) it sits well. No Limp Mode.... It's all good. Thanks for your opinions and advice everyone :o)
