I always use Slick 50 Fuel system treatment. It's not cheap, I think $30-$40 a bottle, but it is worth it. Otherwise get a Ford dealership etc to remove the injectors and clean them.

Thats about 25mpg which is not good for trip., I got 28.5mpg from my XR8 auto on a trip which included a long stint at 140kph.

I used to work at a servo and had a guy with a Fairlane come in looking for Wynns Spitfire Injector treatment. He swore by it and I have used it ever since with great results. Everything else is a waste of money. Its best added to a full tank which is to be used on a trip.

I was recommended to try the STP stuff (There's a red and a black bottle). It is hard to find (K-Mart have it) but I definitely noticed a power increase (about the same as putting in a new filter so not much) but she started and idled better too.
You should be getting 7-9 inst. l/100 km on a hwy drive at about 100-110. That's what I get with a 3.45 diff. Goes up to about 14 l/100 km when accelerating.

Only one way to clean injectors - take them off and strip them down, immerse in ultrasonic bath and run them for a while. Reassemble using new seals. Then use quality fuel to stop the clogging again.

As AP said, then use a full tank of PULP (Caltex Vortex), a long stretch of highway, and stretch the legs..........

I do this often (sometimes to often) to keep the beast clean and mean.

Additives may help keep injectors clean but once they are clogged and dirty the only effective way to clean them is to remove them and fit in a ultrasonic injector cleaner as aussie pete said.
