Hi all,

In the on-going quest to change down the gremlins in my car, I've decided its time to knock the injector problem on the head.
Basically, I need to do *something* with my injectors - I'm convinced that they're pretty grotty and need to be cleaned or replaced.

Cleaning, I've got a couple of questions. There is a place near me who is somehow related to an "Injection Correction" bunch, and reckon they'll clean, test and report on the injectors. However, this costs $33 per injector ($264), AND one of the injectors is slightly damaged (see pic). I'm not certain if the plastic "shroud" can be replaced or not (forgot to ask them). Has anyone heard of these guys, or got ideas on whether the shroud can be fixed ?

Alternatively, for US$220 (prolly $350-$400 aussie landed), I can get a set of FMS 30lb injectors from the US - Click here for details. Obviously I'm going to have to get another MAF with some altered electronics to compensate for the higher potential flow rates, but I need to ditch the crappy 55mm EL one at some point anyway. There is also the potential that these could be handy if I push mods on the car much further (unlikely, but possible s/c).

Anyone care to make some recommendations or suggestions ?

Hi mate, id try getting them cleaned/recond first.
i had my six done , cost me $200, and it made a huge difference.
Its somewhere to start.

I had 8 injectors cleaned/recond and tested for $22.50 + GST each, total $198.00.
They were already out of the car though.
I had also replaced the plastic tips, washers and o-rings on some other injectors with a kit, cannot remember how much the kit was but it was cheap.
It pays to ring around.

Hmm . . . Looks like I might ring further then . . . I could probably swallow it if its under $200, but $260 is over the mental hurdle and into "replacement"

I think it's just as cost effective to replace them then clean them, new is always better :0)

Not if you have two spend twice as much, or there is nothing a clean wouldnt fix on the old ones.
