You know the silver interceptors fitted to AU taxi's and cop cars? Well can anybody tell me what sizes they come in? 16"? 17"? (hmm mabye not but worth asking).

also where would one go to purchase these, typically.

they are the steel wheels that come with the car, they are just painted silver instead of black.

Well....paint the rim and buy the center caps!!

FYI the AUII onwards (sedan/wagon only) has 16in steelies as standard fitment. I have no idea how wide they are.

All ford intercepter rims are 15". There standard on all forte's with hubcaps covering them. No such thing as 16' intercepters!!

AU2/3 use 16" steelies including the police pack Forte's. The local coppers have at least 2 AU2 unmarked cars and a couple of marked cars and the local cab company also has a couple of AU2s and they all have silver painted 16" steelies with the XD centre cap. I think the rims are special heavy duty versions stamped out of thicker steel. I have been told that Ford used to do that but I don't know if they stilll do. Holden does make the chasers out of thicker steel, actually the Holden wheels are correctly labeled wagon gas/taxi rims.

Holdens have a slightly thicker (possibly wider too) version of the Pursuit/Interceptor steelies for utes, Ford possibly have the same.
Try asking at tyre/mag wheel shops for used ones as customers get shiny new mags and quite often give the old wheels to the shop. Failing that, check the classies in the daily rag or Trading Post. I picked up 4 x 15" steelies with OK tyres for my Falc out of the local paper for $150. Remember that AU wheels don't fit early Falcs unless you have mega buck spacers (there was a thread here about this recently).
