My engine is rooted I have been caining it and it finally gave up. i have water in the oil. It made a big clang noise before it would not start again which did not sound healthy.

Does anyone have any information about replacing the head and head gasket on an EA or any links to the approporiate information. If so any help would be really appreciated.

Anyone who raid my earlier post about fitting a V8 thanks for the info. I think I might just get my car running, get a loan and go looking for something with an 8 already fitted ie EB Xr8 would be nice.

I think it is full engine rebuild or recon engine swapsies time. Pull it down first to see what has broken. It is cheaper to buy the parts you need as a rebuild kit from Veales or Repco than buy the parts in bits and piece. ie if you need, rings, pistons, bearings, timing chain, dampers, gaskets etc a full rebuild kit is cheaper than say buying the head gasket and timing chain kit then having to buy the other bits. A clang suggests perhaps a seized oil pump (does the distributor spin when you try the starter motor?) or a bent or broken rod/ timing chain ......does the engine turnover at all?

No it dosent turn over but just makes a wierd errrrr noise. Cant really descirbe the sound!

Hi guys i was think someone might help me i was looking at my EB engine and i noticed i had a 5 stamped in to my head on the left hand side so if you guys can help me plz tell me what this 5 is for as i have know idea?

yea u asked me in a PM mine has that too not sure mine is a GLI apparently standard we have owned it since new yet i have a TICKFORD gear box its the last of the EB2 and the ford guy said they started putting bits of left over XR's into the last of the EB/ED models not sure on how true this is but my gear bod (auto) has the tickford wings on it as far as i know its a stardard GLI it had 16km on the clock when we picked it up late 93 (DEC) so yea??? no idea
