Jacking AU2 XR8 Cost Me A Pile of Money!

Jacked the AU2 XR8 to do an oil change and all was well until I put the car back down and hopped in. There's at least two HUGE cracks in the windscreen (weren't there before!) starting from the lower edge. Noticed some marking on the lower trim near the crack propogation point so maybe there was a stress raiser there and I just set it off.

BUGGER! :oo1:

Oil change:
- 8.5 litres of shell helix $65+
- oil filter $10 or so
- windscreen $250 (?)

Cheap maintenance eh? :s6: :dead: :oo1: :s3

My car won't go up the ramps because of the extra spoiler extensions. I used the horizontal extension from the main rail just behind the front wheel. I also pack it out with wood to spread the load.

I think this was caused by a stress raiser such as a chip under the trim at the bottom of the screen. Jacked the car plenty of times before with no probs.

AP is indeed a very (UN)lucky b@st@rd!

Pete,

Should of given me a call, i worked out the best way for a DIY oil change. Infact i done an oil change on the XR6 (Bloody $82.50 for 5 litres of Mobil 1 10w-30) today.

I use 2 planks of wood first plank of wood being longer in length than the next so the car goes up in a step. No dramas to get under car after that. Planks are about 1inch think so combining both makes it 2inch's enough to get under the car.
For the bottom plank make sure you get one thats got a rough texture the smooth stuff makes the top plank slide as we found out today.

About the cracks in windscreen, farout i've jacked my Xr6 heaps of times to clean wheels etc and so far nothings happened, infact i'm amazed how much more stiffer the AU shell is compared to the ESeries.
