Just got prices for Engine rebuild - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

Well, looking into rebuilding my motor i got the following prices from SPRINT in adelaide. What do people think?

High Volume Oil Pump $100
Race Series Pistons+rings $450
or
ACL Pistons + rings $345
Full Gasket set $175
Conrod Bearing $34
Main Bearing $69

All for an EF Block

Just be carefull with the high volume oil pumps. They are not generally needed and can cause major problems in the future. I would stick with the standard volume one. Other than that, prices seem fine, sprints are usually very well priced. I would go the race series pistons and moly rings.

what motor is it? if its an I6 you wont need the oil pump - if you really want then get a new stock one from ford, all the knowlegable people i speak too say they are more than good enough for 99.999% of applications.

but really just get the clearences in your stock one checked and it will be fine.

oh yeah - race series pistons are good for up to about 650-700hp so if you decide to turbo it they will be great :D

and i wouldnt suggest moly rings, apparently you get big oil consumption issues with them unless you thrash your car 100% of the time - they are best left to race engines IMHO

Any idea on how much balancing the whole lot costs?

I had my V8 race balanced for $264, so it should be a little cheaper for an I6 I would think.

mate thats a half decent price on those parts, but today i got some pricing on parts for my 302 from REPCO believe it or not - the engineering and motor design department...they have some good prices and are good with service/ warranties...Some of my parts i will most definetly buy from there.

Ive had quotes of arround $185 for an I6 balance.

Also, ive heard that the wingfield Repco engine machining place is a bloody good place to get blocks machined etc

yeah i wasnt to worried about the hi-vol oil pump. Mabey just change the spring for an AU item.

I have had quite a few friends go through the wingfield repco and haven't heard of any problems. I went with Chris Milton Engine Developments on Main North Rd. They seemed to be a bit more expensive than some, but they know their stuff and are good to talk to. Worth checking them out for their prices on the pistons etc as well.

yeah they seem to be good to deal with...no hassles or anything..ill definetly get some stuff through them...like boring + honing a block for $200...cheap imo
