I have K&N Filter in my car. The last service they replaced it by the original paper filter and I got the old one with me.

How should I clean it properly, and can I fit it back myself?:bs2 what's the next step after removing the clips out of the filter box?

just take the clips off unscrew any bolts holding the snorkel to the body (if any - depends on year of car) and remove the top of the airbox and take out the filter, and buy the k&n element washer thing to re oil it - cost about $25 and the instructions are on the bottle.

i wouldn bother cleanin it, unless you live in country and its really dusty - those things go for like 150000kms without needed to be cleaned.
