Does anyone know why, in their infinate wisdom, Ford deemed the 4.0 I6 worthy of a knock sensor but decided the Windsor and Boss can live without?
Curious as to why....

Don't really know, but Ford Australia designed the six, while the Windsor and 5.4 motors originate from the USA.

But it's easy to add a knock sensor to the engine. They don't affect the engine mechanically, but do affect the tune.

yes may be easy to blot it on ,but not as easy to promgram the ecu to tell it that it now has a knock sensor
