which L.E.D's are legal?

Hey fellas. Just put a set of wedge type blue led park lights in my xf to make it stand out a little. I am wondering if i can get booked for having these and what other lighting is illegal / or warrents a booking? Are the washer leds illegal? driving lights etc? How about neons? Interior or exterior? Can anyone speak from experinece? I don't want to cop a fine just because of having some cool lighting.

Cheers Damo

basically what you have done is illegal. neons are illegal too unles your car is stationary, turned off and only then you can have the neons on. driving lights are legal but are required to be hooked up so they only work when your high beams are on and not when you have low beams on.

In addition they must be independently switched, ie. you need to be able to run just the car high beam.

Re: which L.E.D's are legal?

neons are neons and they are not allowed to be used anywhere in a car that is moving or running. you can put them in the car and use them when the car is parked and engine turned off and that is all. you will also get a canary if you put them anywhere on the outside of the car even if they are not turned on.
why you would want them in the first place still amazes me.

no twice. under car neons will get you a canary and driving around anywhere but a car show with them turned on is illegal, as has already been clearly stated.

Re: which L.E.D's are legal?

I got some ~7000 mcd blue led's from dick smith, and wired em up to my front bar. They look like little blue spotties from a distance, very bright! Anyway first night i had em on, the car was parked and locked and we were standing around it. Unmarked cop car (SS) showed up and asked who owned the car, anyway they ended up giving me a Fine for "Un-neccisary(sp?) Lighting" $70, and told me to remove them or i would get defected.

There still on there, but i dont turn em on very often anymore, they do look tuff tho :)
