Hi guys,
I have noticed that sometimes when starting my car (laser ghia 89), a loud grinding noise is produced and the car doesnt start at all. It doesn't do it all the time (it might happen once every couple of days), but i know i can't ignore it. It is odd because when it does happen, it usually does it on 2 attempts and then on the 3rd it starts normally. I don't know much about cars so I don't know what it could be, ... the battery is fairly new aswell.
Any suggestions ?

check the starter motor drive and the ring gear. Starter motor is not meshing properly.
