After not having the dash diags for a good 5 months, for some reason no matter what i did i couldnt get them on.

I was able to get the working yesterday, oh joyus day it was to, we all did rejoice in the greatness that was ford !

Then on the way home last nite i was coming down a hill and started to brake, the dash then flickered and the hot temp light came on, and the dash reset itself, now i cant get the damn things back!!!! i have tried the fordmods.com site and followed the instructions there, even tried the ones on another site, which has a slight variation, to no avail...

I am now very unhappy i want my diagnostics back !

I have a May 98 GLi EL...

Can anyone tell me what i am doing wrong ?

The instructions on the fordmods site are correct. The only thing I've noticed personally is in Step 1 you don't have to hold the tripmeter reset button for 10 seconds. Just hold it in and turn the key to the On position. Then press 3 times holding it in on the third time until the seatbelt light goes off.

As for the duration of the diags mode, I think it's random. I've had it last a day and a half once, and on another occasion less than an hour. The dash resetting itself is freaky if you're not expecting it. I've never tried to get back into diags mode just after it's reset itself so I don't know if there's a delay before you can get back into diags mode.

Just keep trying I reckon.

aye, i tried it last nite to no avail, and again this morning, about 9 hours later... still no good, , think ill have to try again after work today....

dont want to wait another 5 months to get it back :sad:

you just have to be patient and count the seconds :)

it works on mine! and miens a pain because of exchaser dash

argh not more seconds counting hehe... i must be counting to fast then or something i would say hehe :)

will definately give it a go tonite.. i like the diag feature...

will do till i get my trip computer and that in for the fuel :)

Well i tried again and finally got it working, just pushed the reset knob in and turned the ignition to ON and held it down
