Im looking at replacing the standard airbox assembly with a RAMPOD on my EA II Fairmont Ghia... Im looking at pictures of it, and it seems it just sits there with nothing to stop the hot air from the motor getting in?? Is that correct, or is it made so that the hot air is somehow not sucked in..... im a total car nuff nuff, so any help in this area is apprciated. Will I need to somehow make a "wall" to make sure the rampod only gets cool air, or mount it lower, or something ?? Anyone who has a RAMPOD attatched to their EA MPFI can you post some pics/info on how you did it and if it was a worthwhile investment??
I have a POD filter in my 88 EA Falcon GL, I have cut a pice of clear perspecks with a metel strip at the top so it doesn't bend...
Howeva I'v lost the stok cool air induction, with Im going to try and use with the new wall....
I'll post some pic's when I finish it (don't know when that would b)....

They do flow better, although K&N etc are overpriced as any Cotton element will flow better than a paper element.
The main reason I would even cosider buying a K&N ( or similar ) is the fact that they are washable....if they werent I wouldnt even consider it.

The only thing wrong with oiled air filters is if you are a bit heavy on the oil, and if you have a MAF sensor, it gets a bit oiled up which attracts more crap, and eventually your MAF sensor readings become out of whack, with a resulting lack of performance and higher fuel consumption.

Thats only a problem with the V8s, as the six's run a Map sensor & Throtle position sensor.
I have never had a problem with the oil, ive been running with Finer Filter Pods for the lasteight years.
At the moment I have the head off my car for a new gasket, and after four & a half years running the pod there is stuff all oil in the intake runners &head.
