frown Loss of speedo signal

Hey guys, The other night on the way home from the gold coast cruise i lost my speedo signal for a few mins while driving along the freeway.. coz of the signal loss, my gearbox kicked down to 3rd and would only go into 1&2nd if i manually selected them. Happened again today. Do these speed sensors faill like this?
Where is it located on the 4spd auto??

Thanx

Brent

Sounds like lack of speed sensor signal is dropping the car into limp mode. The speed sensor is at the rear of the gearbox. It is a small grey unit with three wires ending in a white plug. A single bolt retains it. Be sure to replace it with one with the same colour sheath over the wires.
