Can anyone tell me if mid 90s L9000 and Ford Aeromax
prime movers are the same truck with just a bodykit
Or are they different spec mechanically?

the l9000 is the lower spec of the two,in terms of lighter lower torque springs usually less hp and trim etc.where the aeromax is more suited to bigger loads and mutiple trailers etc.would rather a kenworth

Do you mean the Aeromax that has the more modern appearance? If so, the above answers aren't really correct from my memory.

The trucks ran through a series of models despite being very similar. In chronological order:

L9000
Aeromax (much the same)
HN80 (around 1997?)
HN80N?
HN82
Sterling

As for preferring Kenworths, it's all a matter of economics. The Ford trucks do the work just fine although as a driver they are hardly the easiest or nicest to drive.
