Hi Guys,
I am new here and I was just wondering if i could get some
help. I have an NA Fairlane 90 model on gas and am wondering
why my cold air intake has been blocked off to prevent the car from stalling?

My EF has had the same thing done to it, its something to do with stopping air coming in to the engine while off throttle which is what causes it too stall when slowing down and goin round corners.

My EA which had gas as well never had any problems like this but it must just be certain gas systems that have this flaw

Hi Lads,

As Spinksy has said. Yeah, I had this problem with the EL system. I think it has something to do with the 'balance line' (the piping that runs to your airbox from the factory mixer / converter. Once again, another $hitty thing about LPG to add to the list :-(. Not to hijack the thread, but outta curiosity, anyone wanna buy my GRA setup ?

The car has an aftermarket system it has an Elko EP175 converter
I use to work for Ford and the were EA-EL coming in all the time with aftermarket gas systems and none of them had the cold air intake blocked. What there done is put a metal plate in fornt of the cold air intake tube and drilled 3 11/2 - 2 inch holes on the under side of it. No one at Ford could tell me why they did this.
One gas place told me it was to do with Barometric Air Pressure and another told me it was to stop the effects of Ram Air. I live in North Qld so there aren't many places that do LPG conversions here.

How long is your ballance line? my line was over a meter long until i shortened it but not by much. my converter sits off the left front suspension tower and the mixer is on the air box not on the throttle body like the AU's.
