Making Euro/MidEast Ranger Crew Cab US-Legal

I will be moving to Bahrain this fall for a year. While there, I'd like to get a Ranger crew cab and bring it back to the US. Disregarding the import paperwork issues (which I think will be few/none since the US and Bahrain have a deal for service members assigned there to import/export a vehicle),

can anyone tell me what mods need to be made to this vehicle to make it US-legal? If it matters, I have the option of registering it in FL or WA when I get back.

Thanks!

If anything, it'll be vehicle height. Most imported vehicles are either too low, or too high depending on model to meet the NHTSA standards. If that is the case you'd have to get a headlight alignment done as well. Emissions should be close enough that it probably won't matter.

mad Re: Making Euro/MidEast Ranger Crew Cab US-Legal

Unfortunately, the Middle East Ranger Double Cab is a Thai-built J97 model that cannot be made US-legal, either for emissions (engine built for high-sulfur diesel) or safety. Guess I'll have to buy a used early 2000s Tacoma or Frontier if I want a truly compact 4-dr (the new ones are now larger than the Ranger)....
