ah the joys of electronics.....

my cruise control is playing up with some odd symtoms.. if I hit "on" then "set" it sets and works ok However if I hit "off" to shut the system down it does nothing. If I hold the "off" button down it makes the car accelerate! the wiring is good and I have swapped switches with another car to no avail??? any ideas????

Mate, the contacts on the bottons are carbon, they may need a clean.
To do this you can use a sheet of paper, slide it under the button, press down lightly on the button, and pull out the paper at the same tims.
I did this twice on each botton and it fixed the problem.
see how it goes.

BOON250, i have the same problem now and then. it tends to do it when its been on for awhile. a bit strange. a few years ago if i reset the speed 3 times, it would turn off the cruise. had to get a new on/off button, and it was sweet.

Thanks Ill try that!!!!! Its not possible to buy a new switch here Ford made them obsolete in 2001.
