Mighty Hit

I was cruising around in my car the other night (it was real dark) and must've hit what looked like a metal drainage grate. The left wheels took a mighty hit. It was the biggest jolt the XR has ever felt.

No damage was done to the wheel or the rims, which has got me worried. Where has all the shock gone? This morning I got a wheel and thrust alignment done. I was told the wheel alignment was way out, which I knew it felt it was.

Steering left is not a problem, light and easy. Turn the car right and the steering feels heavier than normal and lumpy. All the bumps and undulations of the road feed back to the wheel a lot more than normal. I checked the steering fluid, level is ok, and no leaks. Turning the wheel lock to lock again presents no problems.

I'm going to take the car to be looked at. Does anyone here have any suggestions as to what might need to be looked at in particular?

steering box, ball joints? Get a suspension specialist to look at it like Pedders. For about $15 you can get a complete suspension check up and diagnosis. Highly recommended for those that dont know what the problem is.

Eeek that doesn't sound good Dark_Horse. Don't you just hate those metal drain grates left on the road :p

I have heard a lot of bad stuff about Pedders, maybe try another suspension specialist. I think Pedders may tell you a lot of crap.

with all the problems with advertised problems with Peders, it seems at franchise level they still do a good job, its more the managemet of the company that was questioned by certain individuals.

Just try one of those small suspension businesses. I find that smaller places are more reliable and care more than a big franchise.

There'll be plenty in Sydney ;)

I agree with that, just as long as the business isnt too small, like a back yarder!
I personally wont go to Pedders again from the experiences I've had and seen.:cheeky:

Don't go to Pedders, the bad reputation they have is not there for nothing, and I can back that up with personal experience.

I took my "$14, 28 point safety check" report for my old EA to Straight Talk Suspension in Blacktown and he laughed at it. Told me half the stuff was ok, some needed doing but wasn't urgent, and he'd do what did need doing for much less! I only went there for suspension/steering related matters after that.

Penrith Pedders are O/K.. Remember Busness's will do that[bag each other] after all who got the job? Like you wouldn't expect him to agree would you ???
