I've been lurking around here on and off and noticed you folk are quite knowledgable, so I've got a few questions:

I recently bought an EA Falcon, in good condition (aside from gasket replacements, no other work's necessary) and i'm looking to fit a performance exhaust to it. I don't want full stainless, to keep costs down, but what do you suggest as options for this? I'd like to increase the bottom end power, and I've heard the best option would be a 2 1/4 inch system. I'm not really knowledgable on exhaust systems, is there anything you can suggest. Having some mechanical experience and being fairly good with my hands, is fitting an exhaust system yourself below the headers a very big task that requires a lot of knowledge? what about fitting the headers?

The only other mod im looking at aside from a body kit is lowered suspension, what suggestions can you make?

Cruse some exhaust shop's sometimes they fit there own for near the same price as a well known brand.The one's that seem to be popular are the one's with long last connector,the last two.

Check your induction Ford seem to restrict the inlet side to lower induction noise.Check out the V8 one and compare..Or go conical air cleaner..

Seeing as you want bottom end power I'm sure a mild steel 2 1/4" setup would do fine. Perhaps a set of interferance headers as well?

Alternatively if you really want to pep it up get yourself a hoist and lever that engine into the bin an replace it with a 4.0L multipoint injected jobbie out of an EB2 or later Falcon or even an XR6 motor. I've seen some advertised by wreckers and the price isn't too bad. Of course then there would be the revised wiring to consider... hmm maybe you should consider an early trade in for something newer. :D

E/A's are o/k if multi point for price. You wouldn't buy a throttle body, would you? I don't think anyone here would recomend t/b..

before my ebIIxr I had an ea dont waste your time with a 2 1/4" go the 2 1/2". 2 1/4" Isnt much bigger than standard, I had a genie 2 1/2" system which did the job quite nicely and sounded cool too.

Definitly not, we had a TBi EB Wagon, wasn't toey of the lights at all, it definitly wasn't the engine to have for traffic light brawls. :( :( :(

Yeah i agree, got 2 1/2 inch Mandrel bends, it's up to you what muffler combo you want to choose for the right sound.

I bought a t/b EA S, not one of the brightest things I've done. I got it because it was manual, and at the time I was looking finding manuals seemed impossible - now if I look for EA/EB manuals to compare prices with it, they seem to be everywhere. T/b's aren't terrible, but MPFI is much better!
