In the next few weeks or so I plan to buy a new(er) car, either a EA or EB, depending if a EB can be found for the right price, otherwise itll be a EA! (I have about $3500 to $4000 at a stretch).
I am want to get hold of a manual, but other than that, I am not too fussy over the car.
BUT, what sort of mod's are cost effective with these cars??
I am planning to put a good air filter on, extractors, 2.5" exhaust, and a cam, plus the obligetory lowering!!
My question is, are there any other mods that I could doing that are reasonably low in cost (I dont want to spend more than about $500 on each mod), that will yeild good results??
I dont want to go down the forced induction path, purely due to insurance hassles.
And could anyone suggest a good cam that for either car??
sounds like you are on the right track, but i would start with new brake bads and have suspension check out before doing any performance mods, also try ging for cold induction.
good luck with your mods
yeh sure sounds like the mods you have planned will be great, although john mentioned the pads...they are a great improvement that can be made quite cheaply. Simply putting the tickford pads in makes a difference, and it wont chew your discs too badly either. I can get about 4 laps of sandown out of my ticker pads (pulling up from around 200) before they start to fade, which is enough for club racing (supersprints) and excellent for street! go with the suspension / exhaust / extractors / cold air / cam / pads and you should have a good package
Another simple (and cheap) mod, is to replace the standard belt driven fan with electric thermo fans from latter model ef/el or with aftermarket units from davis craig. You would be amazed how this allows the engine to rev more freely, especially with exhaust and airfilter.
Following on from that one - Keep the standard bars and rebush them with nolathane - rebush the watts linkage too. Monroe GT gas shocks are well worth the dough too.
15's from the S packs are fine with a 225 60 15 tyre - all that and lowered you're well on your way
well...
I intend to tell them about the suspension and exhaust work....
but plead ingorant for the cam...
if by some fluke of fate they found out, I'd tell em that it must have already been put in their when I got the car, and didnt know anything about it...
they screw consumers over, when not the other way around.
might as well use the reasonable declosure precedent to your advantage (desclose everything, that you could have reasonable known)

Does anyone know if the thermofan "surround" used on the newer models will fit on an EA MPI??? I spose what I mean is are the radiators still the same in later models as the earlier ones???
