Hi all hope you can help, I have a EB11 S 4.0 which goes quite well no major problems and I want to increase the power. I was thinking of putting a XR6 engine in it but that seems a bit expensive for a extra 15 kw. I already have extractors on it so how much power will a 2.5 exhaust system give me? Is there any other things I can do without breaking the bank. The other option is sell it and buying a XR8. Any suggestions would be useful.

EB XR8 only have 165kw anyway, you could put a 3.45:1 diff in.
You probably wouldn't notice the increase in power from the exhaust either but when you do alot of mods they all add up.

Thanks cogo_81, want sort of money does a diff usually go for? I am more after power on take off more than top end power.

If you want some serious GO off the line, throw in a 5 speed dude.

If you don't want to go the manual, then yes, the 3.45's will help a heap off the line.

110kph = approx 2200RPM with 4 speed auto.

The performance with the XR6 motor is better than just the 15kw would suggest - the auto changes much quicker (by at least 0.5 secs) and acceleration is noticably brisker through all gears.

Thanks everyone so would it be better to modify my current engine, exhaust and diff or buy a XR6 engine? Next question can I put any XR6 engine or only one from an EB/ED series?

Ok bro dont bother wasting your time and money in putting in a xr 6 engine, I know of several EB 2 4L that were running low 14sec quarters with over 130 kwrws.

by the way how many kms has the engine done it might play a part.

FIRST Throw in a unichip.

SECOND I suggest you put a a mandrel 2.5inch exhaust system there a quite a few out there so do your homework, and also a hiflow cat 2.5inch, this may cost you between $500-$1000.

THIRD if its auto, I suggest better gears in the diff, I would go the 3.9lsd I am saying this because of the 4 speed I believe at 110 kms they will rev at 3000 to 3500, but the advantage is off the line, I have seen a .5 sec drop in a auto xr with a 3.9lsd fitted with no probs reving on the highway because of the 4 speed, but if its manual I suggest 3.45 gears.

FOURTH Cam and head work.

With all this done you should make over the 130rwkw mark

One of my friends made 142rwks out of a 4L cost around $2000

For that price thats excellent.

Ran a 14.2@95mph but manual 3.45
