Hi my friend has just bought a motec ecu and it is a m48 and he is wondering how to tell if it is a pro or clubman series as he bought it off a friend of a friend etc.

With Motec the different models within a numbering M4, M48, and M8 are all software upgradeable. As far as I know there would be no physical signs. You'll have to look at the software or ask Motec.

You can go to the MOTEC web site. They also have a list of preferred installers. There might be someone close to you that you could talk to.
How much did he get the ECU for, if you don't mind me asking????

he paid $3500 with all the wiring and stuff, I don't know what it came out of but it hasn't been used much.

I hope it's a pro with lambda enabled for that money...... support@motec.com.au will be able to verify. You'll need to give them the serial number of the M48.

A brand new Motec M800 costs around $3530, and a brand new wiring harness around $200, so I hope your friend's M48 has some of the high dollar options to justify the price...
