One more tip marty when you fit them try to position them 3/4 of the way up the bonnet. Directly over the extractors is spot on.
I have the Allan Moffatt HO kit & am getting a new bonnet to relocate them also.
Mine are pretty much over the battery & Airbox does good to remove the radiator heat but not from the extractors.

Vents it is:wiggle: It was orginally what I was going to use them as anyway, but apon seeing them I thought it may look kinda tough with them as scoop, albeit a bit ricey.:MrSparkle
SVO302, Yeah I plan to mount them where you suggest, one above the extractors and the other above the intake manifold.
Any hints on cutting the bonnet? Just use an angle grinder and Dremel?
Firstly, what are you doing cutting holes in that immaculate XR6 bonnet of yours. Why not swap it for my stone-chipped and scratched version - the piant colour matches.
Secondly, if your gunna do it I say let the world know it's a six. Place the passenger side one as a scoop feeding into the airbox towards the front of the bonnet and the drivers side as vent further back to let the hot air out.
For cutting the bonnet I would be trying to get a hold of a Nibbler attachment for an electric drill. Drill a hole then insert this thing. Nice neat (slow) cut - it kind of shears out a thin strip of metal.

A jigsaw with a fine tooth blade would be most suited, or an electric sabre saw if you're a bit handy. Mark out accurately first, check and double check, drill 4-5mm holes in the corners and one in the centre of the section to be removed, then just cut from dot to dot. Covering the surrounding area of the bonnet with tape or contact will save your paint. Be sure to check whats under the section your'e cutting, ie stiffeners, etc.
Best to use masking tape it doesnt let the surrounding paint to chip off.
Once the holes are cut position the vents in the holes & look for gaps, if it doesnt contour exactly to the bonnet you will either have to use a heat gun to make them pliable or chuck em in the oven so you can set em to the exact contour. Its not really that hard mate it just makes a huge difference to the overall finish.
Also use SilkaFlex to adhere them to the bonnet, use acetone or thinners & give the area a good wiping down.
Once placed on the bonnet use a fairly heavy book or books to weigh them down.
Ey martin keep the orignal bonnet for spare just in case u have a bingle or wanna change back. Get another bonnet and hack it up for to put the scoops.
You can use sikaflex, but it gets messy if you over do it. I had some vents on one of my older cars, and I actually mounted two screws in it, one at each end. The vent was then surrounded with some of that sticky fur, you know, sticky one side, non-scratching fur on the other. That way I could remove it and put another type of scoop/vent on whenever I wanted!
