when the engine gets to opteration temp there seems to be a load ticking like the tappets are ticking. I have changed the oil and filter and gone to synt but no change.plus i want to supercharge or nos the XR anyone have any feed back would be nice .PS i still thrash commodores hehe

If you have a 6cylinder, assuming by your username, then i would say if your engine has a sound like that then get to a mechanic, because you have no "rockers" really, you have overhead cam, lobes lifting roller pedestals. should be no noise coming from them.

Had a problem like this many years ago and found the dip stick cap had come lose and allowed dip stick to go futher down and hit crankshaft webs.

the tapping sound you are hearing is proberly the hla's(hydralic lash adjusters)there are really easy to replace just pull off the rocker cover and remove the rocker gear there is no need to touch the cam
