My new fairmont wont start :( It started fine when I went and looked at before I bought it, was towed to my house (had no rego) and now it just cranks.
Its parked on a slope(decline) so I thought it may not be low on fuel so I added some (5L) but still nothing.
Wierd thing is the fuel guage isnt reading anything. When you put it on ignition the needle goes straight to the top, then straight back down and doesnt move.
According the trip computer its got 500+km of range left and if you have it on Instant Usage it keeps rising till it hits 99.9L.
Ideas?

Fuel pump primes. I cant find any evidence of anything recently removed/replaced, the guy I bought it off had no idea about cars anyway.

What kind of car is it??? Where did you get it from???
The fuel gauge is disconnected somewhere along the line. What you described the fuel gauge doing is what happens when the plug on the sender assembly isn't connected.
Doesnt seem to be sparking (plugs are covered in fuel).
Sunny, its an EBII Fairmont

if its got smart lock check the interior light fuse.....that will stop it from starting, worth a shot??
I think you might be on the ball, check the fuse mate, I had the
same thing happen in my ED.
It cranked over, but didn't start....replaced the fuse and it started.
