Gday all,

bought an crow stage 2 (222825 since it has an ed intake and eec 5) recently for my 98 xh ute, however when installing the cam it was found that my car has what appears to be au rocker gear installed in it???????? Rollin has pictures of the offending gear. This caused major dramas as the cam lobes for ea to el are much wider than those in the au so without realising this the au gear was tightened down on the ed cam with quite poor results. 2 rocker arms were gouged out and 2 pedestals were cracked. What was au rocker gear doing in my 98 ute??????? i have had to get some ef gear to replace it and now it works fine except for one noisy lifter.

How do you stop lifters ticking will brand new ones stop the noise????

Is it worth fixing the au gear and getting the crow for the au and putting it in the ute??

does anyone have some good quality el rocker gear that doesn't tick for sale?????

Ford fitted AU style rocker gear to late EL/XH's as part of the transition. Id say yours is a likely candidate being an 98 model.

dinga i talked to my mate from work, he reckons just replace the noisy lifters with new ones, i reckon you need 2 new ones....ill give you a hand to fit them too if ya want...

ford wanted 47.20 each for them, they can get stuffed there is about a dollar worth of metal in them

with a trade discount from marlows i got a price of $19 each.
this was for my ea set though, b4 i put a complete ef one on.
