Hi Guys,
I am new here and I was just wondering if i could get some
help. I have an NA Fairlane 90 model on gas and am wondering
why my cold air intake has been blocked off?
Strange. The do like a hotter engine but this suggests an attempt to compensate for an over-lean mix. Is it OEM gas or an aftermarket convversion and if the latter whose? I guess it might be getting a premix of air and LPG from one pipe but that sounds like a recipe for an explosive disaster.
The car has an aftermarket system it has an Elko EP175 converter
I use to work for Ford and EA-EL's coming in all the time with aftermarket gas systems and none of them had the cold air intake blocked. What there done is put a metal plate in fornt of the cold air intake tube and drilled 3 11/2 - 2 inch holes on the under side of it. No one at Ford could tell me why they did this.
One gas place told me it was to do with Barometric Air Pressure and another told me it was to stop the effects of Ram Air. I live in North Qld so there aren't many places that do LPG conversions.
