Hi guys.
I would like to fit some NF Fairlane door bits to my EF Fairmont.
I know how to fit the bits and peices that I want, but I was wondering If anyone knew how much to get these from Ford, or if there were any wreckers in Sydney wrecking NF/NL Fairlanes with cuppacino Trim.

Any help would be appreciated.

The first bit I want to fit is the Door handle Velvet armrest thingie.
(I think this is the technical term for it ???)
Looks very easy to fit to the standard Arm rest, only requires 5 x 5mm holes in the plastic arm rest to fit. (Its only a plastic thing, with some foam, and trim glued to it.

And the second part I would like to fit is the Door Lamp.
Again, I know how to fit this part, and to wire it up.
What I would like to know is how much from Ford, or are there any wreckers in Sydney with these parts ????

(The reason why I haven't been able to check Ford myself is because I started a new Job, and the nearest dealer is always closed by the time I go past there.)

Ford want about $220 ea for the fronts and $250 ea for the rears :dead: :dead: :s3

Sometimes the prices even scare me.....

door lamps are about $17.00 ea.:s6:

guess they're not planning to sell armrests in hurry.

Hey all

While you're on the subject of NF parts into ghias etc - can I ask a question??

Does the Fairlane \ LTD in the NF range still use the Wagon's rear doors?? I know the earlier ones did but I'm not too sure on the later models.

If they do I wouldn't mind putting the Fairlane's door trims in my XR6 wagon (if I can find some of course)

Ooooooff.... I dont think I will be getting the armrests now !!!!
Im actually surprised at the cost, cause it actually looks pretty easy to make yourself. (If you can match the fabric I guess.)

Oh well.....
The door lamps are cheap though !!!!!
Talking about cheap Ford Parts
I priced the Fairlane Tickford Grill a couple of months ago, about $450 I think. And the EL Fairmont Ghia T-Bar shift shroud, (Wood and chrome), was around $400 as well. :dead:

As for the NF Fairlane, Yeah, they use the wagon doors at the back !! - The door from the window sill down is exactly the same though. Hence the door trim parts can be shared between sedans and wagons !!!!!

Oh, by the way, here is the complete Door trim, minus chrome handle thingie.

Fairlane trims are much nicer than Fairmont Trims (even Ghia) IMHO. The leather looks like vinyl. And the carpet is much more plush and thicker.
Anyway, as I said above, you can use both sedan/wagon/Longwheelbase door trims with all models !!!!

All I've got to do now is find a wreck - Don't think i'll buy then from Ford's if they want that much for just the arm rests

Is it often LTD's and fairlanes of this age get to the wreckers?

i wouldnt mind taxing some leather seats for my nf


although being a repair guy for photocopiers & fax machines of the like any minute traces of toner on your skin or clothes eats into leather and ruins it.

god knows what its doing to my lungs.. oh well

I just purchased a set of clear quarter indicators (the ones next to the headlights). Price from Ford - $87.90 Price from Hunter Falcon Centre (new, non-genuine) - $30.00

Guess which ones I bought.

Can someone explain to me why Ford price things so ridiculously?
I bought the boot carpet for the old mans AUII from Ford (thanks Nipper for the info you posted) and that wasnt too bad. Under $50.

But $90 for an indicator? Come on Ford!

I think that they are pretty rare.
For Leather, you can try EF/EL Fairmont Ghia, LTD, and some Fairlane models have them fitted as factory options.

But apart from that, I find Leather isnt really that good.
I mean it looks good, but try sitting in a Leather Seat on a hot summers day. Not very cool, plus I always ending getting out of the car with a sweaty back.

Finally, I heard that a wrecker in Brisbane, is wrecking an NF Fairlane Ghia 5.0. - Gonna ask him what interior bits are available, interior colour, and how much for shipping.
Will keep all posted on whats available.
