No lights

Alright, I have had it. Please tell me what I am missing. I recently had a fusible link problem on the ignition wire. I cut the fusible link out and bypassed the ignition wire. Now, I do not have any exterior running lights. The brake lights, hazard lights, and turn signals work, but no headlights, parking lights, or taillights. As long as the lighting switch is in the on position, they do light quickly when I move the key to the start position. As soon as it returns to the run position...no lights.
