Does any one no how to fix an odometer that has stopped working. The speedo and tacho are still working fine and i have just put a new speed transducer on the gearbox but this did nothing. I have heard that this is a common problem and that the dash requires replacing. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Have to agree with Acid Burns, mine has not worked properly since 2000, and only works for around 80Km every time I fill up.
And since I travel 1500Km/week just to go to work, it will look good if I ever decide to sell, as it has 380,000 on the clock but in actual fact it has travelled over 500,000.
hahaha, i loved it, drivin down to melb to the meet on sunday, and my speedo stoped workin, all the way around there idnd't work, got home and it decided to work again, i will love it if on ever longer trip it stops workin, hahahahaha
Mine stopped working at 269,000 and now she has probably done about 310,000+ It would be really handy to have it working so I could monitor fuel consumption.
After taking the dash out and having a fiddle I decided it was too hard to fix so I will just leave it until the time comes to sell one day. :)
i had to replace a small gear on my odo just a little while ago. Bought the part from a specialist instrument mob who told me the often get EA/EB's in with the same problem. I pulled the whole instrument cluster apart to replace the gear-its really not that hard!
I have a 96 Mustang with the same problem, the odometer just stopped. I've read forums stating to remove the cluster and replace the gears. I've removed the cluster and have attemped to open it up to view the gears. Does anyone know how do actually open the cluster without damaging it?
