I own since almost brand new a 1998 vct au1 xr6 auto with the lot zorst,air filter,cold air intake,9mm leads,syntheic oil, my problem starts in the morning start my car first thing idles not to bad place it into reverse and clunk, reverse out and drive my kids to school trying to work out why have a flat spot between 1000-2100 rpm and a flat exhaust note,drop my kids off and walk them to there class come back and start it up idles a bit more lower not at 900-950 as thirst thing in morning but now idle is 700-750 rpm,place it into reverse no clunk or bang put a nice slot into reverse auto of course ,put it into drive and the flat spot is gone the exhaust note is crisp clean and the car runs a lot smoother had it to everyone no codes while it is doing it ,any help would be great:)

sorry mate but it was bloody hard to read that.

do you notice that there is any difference in the 'feel' of the brake pedal when you drive it, while its got issues and then when it is going nicely?

if the pedal feels different im going to place bets on your VCT solenoid being stuffed, and the cam timing being a bit out of wack, causing the flat note of the exhaust etc.
