I have a 1992 Chevy 1500 W/T 4.3 V6 has a high idle problem. Just got the truck a month ago. I checked all hoses for a vacuum leak and came up with nothing. I'm not familliar with this engine and was wondering if anyone on here could help me. It's not MPI, it is CFI with the 2 Fuel Injectors mounted above the throttle plate. It doesn't have a tach so i cant tell you the exact idle speed i am getting. Is there some way of adjusting it?
theres a idle air control(iac) valve on the rear passenger side of the throttle body. either the whole thing screws out or theres 2 torx screws holding it in, i would either pull it out and try cleaning it or just replace it and clean its bore, from the top you can look down and see its tip in the bore, rev the engine and it should move. i'd start there.
Hey thanx man!...I know this is totally the wrong site to post a question about a Chevy...But fucc it, i'm already a registered member, and there's no point in signing up on a Chevy truck forum for just one question!!!....I will try to give the IAC valve a good cleaning and see what happens...I already Seafoamed it so I figure I will give that a try! :driver:
