Calling up my local ford dealer to find what oil they recommend to use, as i am not waiting every 15'000kms for the scheduled service. They said from now on they only use 10-30 oil (which in the book is for the I6) and dont use the 15-40 (which is said to be used in the book) for the scheduled service. And that was there recommendation.
I have been recommended Valvoline 15-50 semi synth to use by a mechanic here.
But this cant be so difficult, would someone who is please with their oil in their 5 litre please tell me what it is !!!!!

the common consensus around here for AU series V8's seems to be for Mobil 1 or Shell Helix Ultra. According to Tickfords website they use Mobil 1 in the XR8 and T-Series. Herrod (if i remember correctly) recommended Helix Ultra. I think from previous dicsussions on this topic, the recommended Mobil 1 oil was in 1l or 20l (not 5l). Aussie Pete and RussellW have lead some previously good topics on this subject.

have my au xr8 serviced regularly at fte use shell helix ultra in mine seems pretty good oil..good enough for dick good enough for me...

mate, cant beat pennzoil 10w-30 pure base. best 28 bucks youll spend. cant say id use synthetic oil though. personnel choice, but the pennzoil keeps my AU 5 litre running tops!

The main thing is that you "change the oil / filter" on regular intervils!!!
On the eight I prefere a higher number as in 15/50 or there abouts.For me shell/ Mobil ...I see the latter has increased it's viscosity #'s...But synth is different, it still flows when cold and doesn't break down as bad with heat still holds oil pressure..
