Fairlane Boy

On the NF fairlane, you have the oil pressure gauge, its the same im sure as the XR & the fairmont. Where is the needle supposed to sit?

In the manual it says when ruinning at normal operating temperature, it should be almost at the bottom when idling.

Mine sits up at 3 quarters idling, and goes to the top when driving at normal speed, some times it comes down slightly, but is this normal!?

I have an EL XR8 and mine sits nearly on full while driving and
3 1/4 on idle. I asked the guys at ford about it and they said its only an electronic guage so ignore it. Only worry if the emergency low pressure beeper comes on!

An engine revs, oil viscosity, oil temp etc will cause variations.

These gauges are NOT acurate.They verually tell you that you have oil presure. Some read high and others 1/2 way but the pressure is probably the same.To check for sure us a hydrolic one fitted under bonnet . If it worries you. The sender is under the power steering unit.
Mine reads[E.B] just over 1/2 way and hardly moves back when hot.. Synthetic 15/40..

Intersting, im glad im not the only one.

I thought something was wrong when the gauge was sitting all the way up the top and started worrying.

Although, thats now the least of my problems.
