I'd suggest overcooling = overfuelling. Thermostat OK?
See, the thing with these is that they use a 'waste spark' method of spark distribution, where two cylinders fire together. 1/6,2/5,3/4 from memory.
What this means is that under severe overfueling, the excess fuel will ignite on the exhaust stroke, causing the motor to lose balance and fight against itself.
I never could find out why my AU computer constantly overfuelled, ended up going back to the EL system and haven't had any trouble since. But since yours only does it cold, I suggest you inspect the thermostat/coolant sensors.
