Hey guys just wondering exactly what is involved converting the air conditioning system from the old R12 to the new CFC free stuff?

Is the compressor different etc?

Im asking because I just got my old system regassed but it turns out my compressor is dying and its gonna cost me $125 to replace it....would I be better of converting it?

Hmmm *tries to remember* i believe they changed the Acuumulator and TX valve when they did mine...

Many people here will remember the time when I thought I had scored an ABS conversion kit for $95 - as it turns out, this was the price of an R12 -> R134a conversion kit. It's an aftermarket system, but sold through Ford dealers. Other components may or may not be necessary - I needed a TX valve too.
