I am a Porsche specialist by trade, but my wife is in love with her ford fiesta and I am about to rebuild her engine and the one is my 1990 cosworth saphire.
In the Porsche business, there is a bootlegged CD that is a copy of the main dealer parts database, which shows exploded diagrams and part numbers, supposed to be used by the parts department at Porsche main dealers, the bootlegged version is owned by all the enthusiasts and independent specialists.
I was wondering if there is something like this for Ford?
I already have some CD's called TIS (technical information system) from ford dealers, but I was wanting something for the parts side, so I know what parts I want, do not have to hold on the phone for hours to my local parts department at ford. This is especially important with the two engine rebuilds I am about to do on my fords. where I will need to order a stack of parts and want to make sure the parts I order are the correct ones.
Anyway.... is there such a thing? and if so what do I need to do to find one???
Ford have a system exactly like you describe with exploded diagrams listing part numbers etc and boy o boy id love to have my hands on it. AFAIK you cant get them anywhere
Anyone have any ford contacts ? I wouldn't have thought that this would be excessively hard to get officially - its not like the stuff is a trade secret or anything, and the only possible result I can see from people getting it is ordering more parts directly from ford...
Perhaps someone should approach Ford as a mechanic / business owner to ask about the possibility of this.
While Herrods deals with mostly aftermarket parts, they might be a good first point of call for some info ?
It'd sure beat the frustration of watch the local "parts interpreter" try and work out what the hell I'm talking about ("yes its a retaining clip, off an EL XR8 . . . no . . . an XR *8* !")
i ask down at ford and they said it's not for sale but i have a friend who might be able to get it for me but you will need a dongle (lpt passthrough) to get it to work
