Passenger Seat Rattles

Hello all,
Have an AU11 XR8 when traveling over bumpy surfaces I notice that the passenger seat rattles, originally thought it was the door.
Does any one else have the same problem.
Is it an easy fix, or is it back to Ford for a long drawn out solution.

regards,
Steve.

have you had a look under the seat to see if anything stands out as to what could be making the noise?

I've read about this complaint in the car mags, esp in relation to AU1 XR's, but mine doesn't rattle. I think it's just something you may have to live with unfortunately.

Check the front mounting bolts that go into the floorpan are tight.

Hello all,
thanks for the reply's

It's the back or vertical part of the seat.
you can rock it back and forth.
Must be in the hinge or screw mechanism for the seat adjuster.
Some how vibrates loose or something.
Will have a crack at it tomorrow.
Pitty we have to do Fords dirty work for them.

There was a thread on this a while ago.

If I remember correctly, you need to remove the plastic cover on the side of the seat (Side next to the center console)

And tighten up the bolt there, as it is a washer behind it that creates the rattle...

I have the same problem and haven't gotten aropund to fixing it so let us know how you go and then I'll have a crack at mine :-).

The other alterantive is to put on some Rage Against the Machine and crank the stereo.

And Ford will not fix it as " its just too hard" F*ckin g wankers! - Poor service on the XR8 is making me reconsider ever purchasing a new Falcon again.

I have been thinking about something like this - some leather MY01/02 WRX seats would do nicely in place of recaros.
