do u have to pull the dash out if u pull the steering column out?

coz my bro just ripped one out of an xf and i was wondering how different it was

What did it have to do with pedal boxes?
AFAIK the dash has to come out.

as in to change the pedal box or remove the old one to put in a maunal pedal box do you have to rip out the dash or can you take out the steering column like with the xf's?

thats a good question, im about to change my car from auto to manual soon, i was also thinking that, ive heard the dash has to come out. pay fro some one to do it. i got a quote for 150bux to fit the pedal box so im guessing it cant take that long. maybe 4-5hours. thats just a guess. could take more.

And where do you weld the pedal box so it won't crack?

you weld the opedal box around the base of the clutch pedal axle...

and the dash NEEDS to come out
as there are 4 bolts around the brake pedal/booster and another 3 ontop of the steering column...


if doing a conversion
get the firewall welded
and the clutch pedal axle re-enforced.

boz this pedal box in top condition, came with a metal bracket kinda thing for engine bay side, but dave took it all out including booster without taking his XF dash out, could be different to e series but thats why i was asking

you can just losen the dash and pull it out a bit, u dont have to take it all out.
its tricky and u will end up with a few extra screws when your done lol. ANd we had to losen the steering column to get under it.

Hi guys,

I just fixed my pedal box a couple of weekends ago (ED sprint). What a sh!t job it was, definitley the least fun thing ive ever done to a car! For $150 id be considering getting someone else to do it (in hindsight), although you wouldnt have the satisfaction of doing it yourself or knowing its actually been done right.

As for the dash, yeah just loosen it and pull it out a bit to get to the upper pedal box nuts. I'd recommend taking the seat out as well as removing the steering col. Dont know how guys do it without removing them.
