I have an EA II Falcon S, it is CFI. The problem is when I first start her up in the mornings it runs very smooth then after about 15-20 seconds she runs very rough until warmed up, Oh but always starts first go.

It has always done it since I have owned it.

I have done

New 2.5" exhaust, hi flow lukey muffler - - - same old cat and manifold.

All leads are fine

New spark plugs

New hydraulic lifters

New head

New timing chain and all other related parts

New radiator

New clutch fan - - - thermos coming soon

Fully synthetic oil - - - not contaminated by water (water not contaminated by oil either)

When I start the car it spits black water out the exhaust, when the car has been running for about 5 min it runs smooth as.

Could it just be a blocked cat?

Can someone help its driving me crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

probably just a faulty sensor somewhere...

clogged air cleaners can cause this.

I will try it tomorrow with the air cleaner off. The air cleaner is only 12,000kms old, how often do you change it?

Why would it become smooth after about 5 minutes of running?

I reckon it is probably the O2 sensor, especially if it is the 2 wire model. How much water is coming out?

The O2 sensor was replaced about 3000Kms ago. It is the 2 wire sensor and a lot of water does comes out.

I live in Bibra Lake and the midgies mean its (changing the air cleaner) a twice a year job. It about dust and bugs not KM.

Aussiblue, I live in Yangebup and the midgies are a pain here too. I started my car the other morning with the air cleaner off and it made no difference. Could it be a vacuum leak?

Try clean the temperature sender.

abolone, I also thought that might make a difference so I cleaned it about 3 months and is no better.

Its got me, I have no idea!!!!!!!
