can anbody tell me the pros and cons of getting my car ported and polished. and if there is anybody in my area *maine* can you tell me where to get it done?

It depends on what your plans are. If you want a nice driveable skiboat to pull poeple out of the water, you will wan't lots of low rpm torque, so its something that may not be necessary. If you want big MPH and topend, it may.

If you're talking about your Probe, then I'd recommend doing it. There are several levels of port/polishing, though- I'd say only get a mild job done, since you're not turbo or anything of that sort.

Probes are only good for rolling speed (very little torque off idle), so I doubt you'll be trying to pull boats with it. I think it'd give you a nice boost, but be prepared to upgrade your injectors 20-30%, depending on how much work is done.

It's not the kind of job where you say, "Well- I plan for the car to be extreme, so I'll get the extreme port/polish job now and save myself the hassle." That's a mistake I've seen more than once. Car won't be driveable (with any enjoyment) if you do that. Keep everything level as you go.
