ok whats involved in changing my XFs non power steering to power steering? what do i need to buy, and what do i have to change?
its like driving a damn tank at the moment and its really starting to shit me.

Steering box, pump, lines and pulley with a slot for the ps pump. The wreckers will tell you everything you need, and whould be rather cheap. Painful to put in, one line over and one under motor if I remember rightly, but worth it.

local wreckers up here do an XF power steering conversion for something like $280... parts would probably be less than half of that

As long as your car is not a column shift manual is not too bad a conversion. If it is forget it as it just wont fit.

Column auto will be no problem. Just remember that the actual steering shaft needs to be shortened so it fits the power box. To do this, remove the shaft from the column, and tap it into itself using a wood block. Don't do this with the shaft in the car as you can damage the bearing/steering column assembly. Workshop manual has the dimensions to shorten it to!
